Senior Adults
Kingswood Klassics
Welcome to K2. K2 is the name for our adults who are over the age of 55, Kingswood Klassics! Kingswood joins Chamblee First UMC on the first Tuesday of each month for a meal and program beginning at 12:30pm. Elinor Turner is our contact person along with Pastor Dana (deverhart@kingswood.church). It is our hope to create a true fellowship for those in this age group who want to enjoy the life that the Lord has given them.
Jubilee Choir
Adults 55+ are invited to meet the second tuesday of each month in the Choir Room at 1:30 – 2:30pm. We will share in worship monthly if possible and sharing the deep theology of our old hymns and songs. Contact Pastor Dana at deverhart@kingswood.church for more information.
Grief Support Group
Are you finding it difficult to move on after the death of a loved one? You are not alone. Each fourth Monday of the month through May, Kingswood Church will be offering a Grief Support Group at 7pm. We will be guided by the book, “Feeling Your Way Through Grief” by Missy Buchanan. If you would like to join us, please email Pastor Dana at deverhart@kingswood.church.
Senior Adult Sunday School Classes
Pick one and come on in! These classes are open to adults of all ages. The Sunday school hour is 9:45—10:45 AM, though some classes start at 10 AM.
Ark Class
Who: Mid-30 to 50-somethings
Where: Community Life Center, room 208
Format: Discussion-based
Contacts: Brenda Johnson, Janet LoBue
Like Noah’s storied vessel, the Ark Class is a wonderful cross-section of Kingswood, and welcomes all interested individuals to join in. Made up mostly of mid-30 to 50-somethings (we’ll never tell!), participants select the types of studies and topics to discuss throughout the year. Past classes have included video/discussions, Bible expositors, current events, Bible studies and more. Each Sunday, a member of the class volunteers to lead the session and a wrap up of the lesson is emailed to all class attendees. Interesting, lively discussions are a hallmark of the Ark class. Members also enjoy several “extra-curricular” activities throughout the year, including an annual Christmas party and group participation in church events.
To learn if the Ark Class is for you, we invite you to stop by and visit anytime. We meet in Room 208 of Kingswood’s Community Life Center from 10–10:45 AM each Sunday morning.
Faith + Fellowship Class
Who: Intergenerational; all are welcome!
Where: Community Life Center, room 210
Format: Lecture/discussion, with occasional digital content
Contacts: Jackie Postma
Our class is an intergenerational class whose goals include studies in the Old Testament, to learn about our Judeo-Christian history: what God requires of us, what God has done, and what God is doing in our world. And, in the New Testament we seek to understand the full importance of the story and teachings of Jesus Christ, and the history and works of the early Christian Church. Then, at times, we alternate studies to help us intergrate Biblical truths into our own times and lives with contemporary studies such as Adam Hamilton’s When Christians Get It Wrong or Barbara Brown Taylor’s An Altar in the World.
We all agree that faith is our priority. But, we also admit that we truly enjoy our class socials!
So, if you are between 25-125 years old and need a class, we invite you to come and make yourself at home with us at 9:45 AM on Sundays, in Room 210.
King’s Class
Who: Singles and married couples from all age groups

The King’s Class has a “come one, come all — everyone is welcome” membership that generates a high degree of Christian fellowship among its members who are singles and married from all age groups.
The lessons are designed to generate increased enthusiasm and excitement for the study of the Bible as God’s word. The class uses a lecture style format supported with a media presentation to enhance the subject and facilitate the learning and everyday application of the principles learned.
