Adult Sunday School Classes
Pick one and come on in! These classes are open to adults of all ages. The Sunday school hour is 9:45—10:45 AM, though some classes start at 10 AM.
The Neighborhood Class
Who: Parents, couples, and single adults
Where: Library, room 232
Format: Discussion-based
Contacts: Kara Grant
The Neighborhood — connecting family, friends, and faith — is a casual and friendly group gathering that focuses around Christ’s role in our everyday lives. More than just a teacher-led class, our program style is based around circular group discussions of the day’s topic. Discussion points are wide-ranging, from family and children studies to personal, spiritual help and healing to subjects about everyday life. Our greatest goal is to gather together in the presence of God and share our personal views and experiences in our world and discuss how God influences our lives and how we can be better disciples of the Lord.
Find The Neighborhood in the Library at 10 AM each Sunday, with nursery care available and numerous children’s Sunday School offerings for little ones.
Ark Class
Who: Mid-30 to 50-somethings
Where: Community Life Center, room 208
Format: Discussion-based
Contacts: Brenda Johnson, Janet LoBue
Like Noah’s storied vessel, the Ark Class is a wonderful cross-section of Kingswood, and welcomes all interested individuals to join in. Made up mostly of mid-30 to 50-somethings (we’ll never tell!), participants select the types of studies and topics to discuss throughout the year. Past classes have included video/discussions, Bible expositors, current events, Bible studies and more. Each Sunday, a member of the class volunteers to lead the session and a wrap up of the lesson is emailed to all class attendees. Interesting, lively discussions are a hallmark of the Ark class. Members also enjoy several “extra-curricular” activities throughout the year, including an annual Christmas party and group participation in church events.
To learn if the Ark Class is for you, we invite you to stop by and visit anytime. We meet in Room 208 of Kingswood’s Community Life Center from 10–10:45 AM each Sunday morning.
Faith + Fellowship Class
Who: Class trends 60+ but all are welcome!
Where: Community Life Center, room 210
Format: Lecture/ discussion/ video
Contacts: Jackie Postma, Leader & Fannie Lou Butler, President & class pianist
Our adult Sunday school is a family of friends celebrating Jesus at 9:45 AM every Sunday in Room 210. All of our classmates have at least two things in common: they love God and each other.
We practice our faith with hymns and opening and closing prayers, plus a scripture lesson that includes a video. Our leader welcomes questions and comments.
The activities of the Faith & Fellowship class include: honoring birthdays, anniversaries, and family blessings; sending “Get Well” cards; contributing to missions and charities; a class/spouse Christmas party; an occasional after-church luncheon, and field trips.
Generally our fellowship begins before class as many of us mingle near the coffee bar in the gym lobby only a few steps from our classroom.
You’re welcome to try us out any Sunday. In fact, you’re welcome to try out all the adult Sunday school classes at Kingswood before deciding which one is perfect for you.
